This notice explains what StudyBuddy processes and why. We collect data needed to provide the service, protect accounts and understand reliability.
Data we collect
Account details such as name, email, username and avatar; study goals, tasks, schedules, notes, timer sessions and reports; and social data such as friend requests, messages, blocks and leaderboard preferences.
How we use data
We use this information to authenticate you, provide study planning and analytics, operate social features, prevent abuse, troubleshoot reliability and improve the product.
AI features
Prompts and relevant study context may be sent to configured AI providers when you request generated schedules, news, search results, or Mentor guidance. Journal context is included in Mentor requests only when you enable that preference. Do not include sensitive personal information in prompts.
Offline storage
While you are signed in, StudyBuddy may keep last-known-good read snapshots and pending idempotent writes in this browser or APK WebView so supported work can continue during a connection loss. The service worker caches public static assets only; it never caches API responses or account navigation HTML. Signing out clears the account snapshots, pending writes, focus markers, drafts, and StudyBuddy cache on that device.
Android focus guard
The optional Android phone-wide focus guard is off by default. If you explicitly grant Android Usage Access and “Display over other apps”, it checks only the current foreground app while a remote StudyBuddy focus session is active. It does not retain app history, lock your device, or force-stop apps. It shows a reminder and can end the StudyBuddy focus session after the stated grace period.
Sharing and sale
We share data only with service providers needed to operate StudyBuddy or when required by law. We do not sell personal data.
Retention and control
We retain information while your account is active and as needed for security and legal obligations. You can adjust profile visibility and request access, correction or deletion by contacting support.
